It's one thing to bring up issues from the past when they are relevant to current events, but it's very different to obsess about an old story that just doesn't resonate in the present moment. If you cannot get a painful memory out of your head, suppression will only give it additional strength. But don't just share your story with anyone; choose someone you trust before you open up.
